Lorato aged 29 is HIV positive and came to our clinic with a painfully dry, bleeding tongue and persistent sour taste in her mouth.
Lorato is a single mother to three young children – their father left 5 years ago and he gives her no support. She also cares for her sister’s orphaned children.
But looking after so many other people is a struggle. Her HIV and TB mean that Lorato is constantly tired and feels alternately hot and cold. Her ears are blocked and discharging. She has a persistent dry cough and vomiting and diarrhoea.
“I have a feeling like a band around my head and a banging pain which keeps me awake at night. I have to close my eyes with the pain. I feel very sad and hurt, but not angry. My brother died last week – he was the only breadwinner and he always helped me. I cry sometimes. I have my mother and my father but they are old. My mother doesn’t appreciate what I’m doing. She keeps on complaining. My mind is very busy – I take care of a lot of people. I leave everything to God. When I’m troubled I pray.”
Lorato told us that she felt better after consulting with the homeopaths. Over a few months the cough, headaches, diarrhoea and vomiting and her sore tongue have gone and her energy levels have improved. But perhaps best of all, Lorato says she no longer feels sad.
“I’m looking forward to life now.”
